XanDragons

Tame the wild. Fight a dragon to the brink, and it is yours.

What are dragons?

Dragons are rare, powerful creatures that roam the wilds of Everforge. Each kind has its own element, colors and breath. Some are dangerous to the land and to you, but a dragon that has been beaten and tamed becomes a loyal companion you can ride across the world.

Finding one

Wild dragons are very rare. Each kind favors certain places and weather, so your chances improve when you know where to look. When one is spotted, the server announces that a dragon has been seen near a location, but never which kind it is.

DragonWhere it may appear
FireDeserts, under clear skies. Its breath burns and can set the ground alight.
IceSnowy lands while it is snowing. Its breath freezes water into ice.
StormAnywhere, during a thunderstorm at night. Its breath calls down lightning.
WaterOceans, at any time. It breathes bubbles and swims freely underwater.

Not every dragon can be found in the wild. See Special dragons below.

Special dragons

Some dragons never appear in the wild at all. They are awarded or gifted to players for special deeds, events and honors, so you cannot hunt them. Each one brings its own look, breath and effect on the land where its breath lands.

DragonWhat it does
VenomA green dragon wreathed in drifting spores. Its bite and breath poison and sicken its targets, and its breath leaves a toxic cloud lingering where it lands.
ShadowA dark, soul-lit dragon. Its attacks wither and blind, and its breath leaves a veil of darkness that saps anyone who stays inside it.
AirA pale dragon of wind. Its breath hits hard and unleashes a gust that hurls hostile creatures up and outward, and it is unharmed by falling.
CrystalA radiant dragon with the most health of all. Its breath slows and lights up its targets, and amethyst crystals sprout where it lands, even forming a wall across the line of fire before fading away. The crystals are only for show, and cannot be harvested.
RainbowA gentle dragon with a shifting rainbow aura and a trail of rainbow dust behind it as it flies. Its breath harms nobody and fills the air with a huge cloud of rainbow smoke.

Receiving a special dragon is recorded in your Legacy, and you are given a new dragon slot for it, so it never uses up one of your existing slots.

Taming a dragon

  • Fight the dragon. Its element hurts, so come prepared.
  • When its health falls below 10%, it yields instead of dying. The player who lands the final blow becomes its owner.
  • You will be asked in chat to name your dragon. You have 30 seconds, or type skip to keep the random name it was given (names can be up to 24 characters).
  • Right-click your dragon with a lead to tether or untether it.
  • A floating health bar above each dragon shows how it is faring, and a tamed dragon slowly heals on its own.
  • Beware trying to harm another's dragon. They will defend themselves!
Wild dragons that go unclaimed vanish after an hour, so do not dawdle once one is spotted.

Riding

Right-click it to climb on, and steer where you look. Left-click to breathe, sprint to fly faster, and sneak to descend. You can only dismount close to the ground, and the game suggests pressing F5 for third-person view.

Dragon slots

You can keep a limited number of tamed dragons at once. Everyone starts with one slot, and /dragon slots shows how many you have.

Commands

Wherever a command asks for a dragon, you can use its name or its number from /dragon list. You can also type /dragons or /drg.

CommandWhat it does

/dragon slotsSee how many dragons you can keep.
/dragon call <name>Summon one dragon to your side.
/dragon follow <name>Make a dragon follow you.

Patrolling dragons

A patrolling dragon guards a claim you own, or one where you have permission trust. Give the order while you stand inside that claim, and the dragon will never leave it to chase anything. Choose how it flies and who it attacks:

FlightBehavior
wanderRoams the whole claim.
circleCircles above the spot where you were standing.
StanceBehavior
mobsAttacks hostile mobs and wild dragons.
intruderAttacks everyone except you, plus wild dragons.
pacifistAttacks nothing.

A wild dragon that is attacked by a patrolling dragon will fight back. If your dragon drops to low health in that fight it retreats, then returns to its patrol once it has healed.

Dragons and your Legacy

Taming each kind of dragon earns a milestone in your Legacy, marked with a dragon's head.
