The joust
Jousting is a mounted duel. Two riders charge each other on temporary horses, spears lowered, and score points for clean strikes. The horse is provided and no one is killed, so it is safe to try.
Starting a duel
- Challenge a rival:
/joust challenge <player> [arena]. - They have 30 seconds to answer with
/joust acceptor/joust deny. Click the buttons in chat if you prefer. - Both riders mount up, a countdown runs and the charge begins. A bout lasts up to three passes.
During a match you may only use /joust commands.
Scoring
Where you strike, and how hard, decides the points. Strikes are glancing, solid or powerful.
| Target | Glancing | Solid | Powerful |
|---|---|---|---|
| Head | 1 | 3 | 5 |
| Torso | 1 | 2 | 3 |
| Shield | 1 | 2 | 3 |
| Legs | 0 | 1 | 1 |
- Break your spear on a rival: +2
- Unhorse your opponent: +10, and it ends the bout.
- Strike a horse: −3. Unsporting play: −2.
